Safety of Natural Breast Augmentation

If you’re considering a breast augmentation procedure, you have an important decision to make. Do you choose breast surgery with implants or natural augmentation? Most people are familiar with the surgical procedure in which a silicone or saline implant is placed into the breast. Many people are also aware of the safety concerns related to this procedure, including the chance of infection and the possibility of the implant rupturing.

With natural breast augmentation, there is no chance of an implant rupturing because there is no implant. The procedure uses your own fat to augment and lift your breast tissue. The result is a more natural and attractive appearance without the unnatural look that is typical of breast implants.

Natural breast augmentation is a much safer procedure than the old method of cutting open the breast and inserting an artificial implant. No cutting of the breasts takes place, reducing the chance of infection, and because the procedure uses your own fat, there’s no risk at all of your body rejecting the transfer or having an allergic reaction.

Another common concern of implant-based breast augmentation is that women can lose sensation in the breasts since nerves can be damaged by the cutting and stretching. With natural breast augmentation, this risk is no longer an issue. The results are permanent, unlike implants, which have to be replaced about every 10 years.

Like all medical procedures, natural breast augmentation does pose some risks. These are:

— A chance that the injected fat may harden or calcify — Some scarring in the injection area — A possibility of bleeding at the injection site — A slight risk of infection at the injection site

Because your fat is removed through a liposuction procedure, some risks are associated with that procedure as well, including bruising at the site of the liposuction. In general, you can expect some downtime, usually about three days. You are safe to return to work in one week.

It’s also important to give your breasts gentle treatment and care for three months after the procedure. This means wearing a supportive bra with no underwire and avoiding activities that could cause bouncing or agitation of the breasts.
